The Wildcats have brought in Jersey Shore Wildcats Head Coach and General Manager Corey Leivermann to assist Josh Nelson for the rest of the regular season and playoffs.
“I’m very excited for this opportunity to help Josh Nelson and the Wichita Falls Wildcats close out the season,” Leivermann said. “I look forward to contributing in any way I can.”
In his first season as the J.S. Wildcats’ Head Coach, Leivermann (26) led the Cats’ Tier III affiliates to a 26-20-1 record and a Northeast Division Finals appearance against the Binghamton Jr. Senators (the top team in the NA3HL).
Before his coaching career, Leivermann played two seasons with the Fargo Force in the USHL before playing with Nelson for three seasons at Minnesota State-Mankato. He was known as a skilled forward who could make plays happen all over the ice.
Close friends off the ice with a similar take on the game, having Leivermann join Nelson on the Wildcats bench could be the jolt the team needs to get back on track. In the midst of a five-game losing streak preparing for the playoffs, it doesn’t seem this acquisition could happen at a more opportune time.
