The Wichita Falls Wildcats season is nearly here, and with a strong group of returning veterans and a promising crop of new players, there is every reason for elevated expectations for the 2013-14 campaign. Defensemen Andrew Kerr and Matt Koch are among those newcomers hoping to make an immediate impact.
Kerr comes to Wichita Falls following the conclusion of a successful high school career with Duluth East High School in Duluth, Minn. He appeared in 92 games over three seasons, totaling three goals and 18 assists for 21 career points while helping the Greyhounds reach the state tournament each of those years.
In addition to his accomplishments on the ice, Kerr also excelled on the rugby field, earning All-State honors in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Koch joins the Wildcats after completing his career with Hastings (Minn.) High School, where he served as a captain his junior and senior years. In his last season with Hastings, he compiled a 6-17-23 line in 26 games played. He was also named the team’s most valuable player for the 2012-13 campaign.
The Miinnesota-native counts Nicklas Lidstrom among his favorite players, and lists Adrian Peterson as the person he would most like to meet.
