Josh Nelson is entering his second season as a coach for the Wildcats, and is in his first season as Head Coach. He played in the NAHL for two seasons and spent the majority of his time with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs before getting a scholarship to Minnesota State University. While there, Nelson demonstrated his talents as a skilled, puck-moving defenseman. His love for the game was not dampened by the numerous injuries he sustained in his senior year, as he got into coaching the following season at Shattuck-Saint Mary’s High School, one of the top high school hockey programs in the country. His younger brother, Casey, who followed in his footsteps as a player growing up, currently plays for the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres. His ability to mentor his brother into NHL readiness combined with his knack for realizing and developing young talent made him an impeccable hire for the Wildcats.
