Forward Nikita Litvyak and defensemen Cole Nichols and Turk Scatliff are part of a group of 17 newcomers hoping to make the 2014-15 Wildcats season a memorable one.
Litvyak comes to Wichita Falls after spending last year with the Bradford Bulls of the Greater Metropolitan Junior Hockey League, an unaffiliated league in the Toronto area. The Russian-born center proved to be an offensive dynamo for the Bulls, registering 23 goals and 28 assists for 51 points in 38 games played. He posted a further 21 points on five goals and 16 assists in 15 postseason games to help Bradford claim a league championship.
Litvyak is the first Russian to dress for the Wildcats since defenseman Sergei Soloviev appeared in 42 games during the 2011-12 campaign.
Primarily a shut-down defenseman, the Chicago-born Nichols plied his trade in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League last season, recording two points in 34 games played for the Flin Flon Bombers. Prior to his time in Canada, Nichols played for the Richmond Generals of the MJHL, posting a 5-20-25 line in 31 games in 2012-13, earning him an All-Rookie team selection.
Like Litvyak, Scatliff spent last season with the Bradford Bulls of the GMJHL, appearing in 34 games and tallying 17 points (one goal, 16 assists) from the blue line. Prior to his time in Bradford, the Winnipeg-native played for the Breezy Point North Stars of the NA3HL, skating in 37 games and posting six points during the 2012-13 campaign.
The Wildcats will complete their preseason slate when they host the Brahmas at the KYC on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., with all tickets available for $7 at the KYC box office.
