The Wichita Falls Wildcats will be looking for new players to leave their mark in 2014-15, with 17 newcomers on the roster, including forwards Austin Beaulieu and Kevin Charyszyn.
A point-producing winger, Beaulieu spent the 2013-14 season with the TPH Thunder in Duluth, Ga. While there, the native of Coral Springs, Fla. racked up 70 points (23 goals, 47 assists) in 49 games played at the Midget Major level, and was his team’s second-leading scorer.
A first-round draft pick of the Wildcats in the 2014 North American Hockey League Draft, Beaulieu is one of two players on the roster committed to the University of Alabama in Hunstville, joining defenseman Cam Knight.
Charyszyn was one of the leading scorers for the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers this past season, posting 19 goals and 18 assists for 37 points in 35 games played. He ranked second on the team in goals and third in overall points to help the Flyers notch a 25-10-1 record in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League, the nation’s top midget major circuit.
The Jamison, Pa.-native appeared in two games with the Wildcats as an affiliate player last season, and is committed to the Air Force Academy for 2016-17.
The Wildcats will drop the puck on the 2014-15 campaign when they host the Odessa Jackalopes on Sept. 13 at the Kay Yeager Coliseum. All tickets for that contest are free, and can be obtained by visiting the Wildcats offices.
