The Wichita Falls Wildcats boast a group of eight veterans who will look to lead the way in 2014-15, including defenseman Matt Koch, who returns to help anchor the blue line.
Koch appeared in all but four contests for Wichita Falls in his rookie season, tallying 17 assists in 56 games played. Although he didn’t find the back of the net during the regular season, he picked a great time to score his first North American Hockey League goal when he found twine against the Amarillo Bulls in the first round of the divisional playoffs.
The Hastings, Minn.-native became a crucial piece of the Wildcats defensive corps as the campaign progressed. Along with his defensive partner Jake Townsend, Koch frequently logged heavy minutes and saw time in all situations, including the power play and penalty kill.
Koch, who is committed to the Air Force Academy for next season, is one of six players on the roster with a Division I commitment, and is also one of three Wildcats who are committed to play for the Falcons.
The Wildcats will drop the puck on the 2014-15 campaign when they host the Odessa Jackalopes on Sept. 13 at the Kay Yeager Coliseum. All tickets for that contest are free, and can be obtained by visiting the Wildcats offices.
