With a new season fast approaching, forward Evan Okeley joins a group of eight returning players who will look to lead the Wildcats in 2014-15.
In 53 games played last year, Okeley posted four goals and 13 assists for 17 points in an eventful first season in the North American Hockey League.
The Carmel, Ind.-native began the year by turning in a strong showing at the league’s annual showcase in Blaine, Minn., recording consecutive two-assist performances. Okeley then parlayed that solid play into a Division I offer, as he committed to play his collegiate hockey at the Air Force Academy shortly thereafter.
Prior to his time in Wichita Falls, Okeley was a standout forward for the Indiana Jr. Ice of the North American Prospects Hockey League. In his last season competing for the Jr. Ice’s midget major squad, the forward notched 13 goals and 11 assists for 24 points in 18 NAPHL games.
The Wildcats will drop the puck on the 2014-15 campaign when they host the Odessa Jackalopes on Sept. 13 at the Kay Yeager Coliseum. All tickets for that contest are free, and can be obtained by visiting the Wildcats offices.
