NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas – Alex Falconer scored for Wichita Falls but it was not enough to keep the Lone Star Brahmas from claiming a 5-1 preseason victory aat the NYTEX Center on Saturday,
The Brahmas found the back of the net first, as Cody Wickline pushed the puck past Chase Munroe to make it 1-0 less than three minutes into the period.
After the Wildcats came up on a power play, Lone Star doubled their advantage, with Hogan Davidson tucking the disc home out of a netmouth pile-up after a strong transition rush by the Brahmas.
Wichita Falls carried the play in the second stanza, outshooting Lone Star 15-7 in the frame, and finally broke through on the man advantage.
Matt Koch’s shot from the point was blocked down in traffic, but landed right at the feet of Falconer. The Wisconsin-native alertly spun an effort on net, sweeping it through the five-hole to make it 2-1.
Wichita Falls started the third period on the front foot, peppering the Lone Star net with shots in the first few minutes, but the Brahmas pulled away with a trio of tallies to claim the win, 5-1.
The Wildcats will complete their preseason slate when they host the Brahmas at the KYC on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., with all tickets available for $7 at the KYC box office.
Wichita Falls will kick off the regular season on Saturday, Sept. 13 when they host the Odessa Jackalopes on Pack the House Night. All tickets for that contest are free, and are available at the KYC box office beginning Monday, Sept. 8.
