Wildcats center Adam Goodsir committed to Denver University Monday morning. He will begin his college hockey career at the start of the 2017-2018 season.

“DU’s genuine interest and similar style of play was very attractive and sparked my interest,” Goodsir said. “Upon visiting, I fell in love with the combination of great hockey and awesome academics. I am so fortunate to have had so many incredible coaches, trainers and mentors, including my family and advisor, who have helped me achieve my goal of playing D1 hockey in an environment that will help develop my skills to move forward. I give glory to God for the amazing opportunity at DU.”

Denver is the home to former Wildcats winger Rudy Junda, leading scorer in 2014-2015 Colin Staub, and Florida Panthers draft pick Evan Cowley. It is also the alma mater of several NHL players, including Paul Stastny, Jason Zucker, and Patrick Wiercioch.

“Adam has shown maturity and humility beyond his years in handling this process,” Wildcats Head Coach John LaFontaine said. “His teammates only see a humble, hardworking, honest teammate. We’re excited for Denver and for Adam; he has a very exciting career in his future.”

The Wildcats’ youngest player has provided consistent goal scoring throughout the season, and is currently tied for first in the NAHL in goals with Ryner Gorowsky of the Fairbanks IceDogs.

Throughout the season, however, Goodsir has developed into more than just a goal-scorer. He has proven to be a hard-working player all over the ice and has earned himself some penalty-killing time for the Wildcats. His 24 goals and his +20 rating have helped Wichita Falls to its best start in franchise history.
